Market Update

Dear Community Members,

We regret to inform you that the S/M Community Market has been officially canceled. While we had high hopes for this event, several factors have led to the decision, primarily due to the unique challenges.

In our community, limited infrastructure has significantly impacted our ability to host events that attract interest and participation.

Key challenges include:

*OVERALL COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE

* INADEQUATE FACILITIES

* LIMITED ENGAGEMENT

We understand that community markets thrive on participation and engagement. Unfortunately, the above mentioned factors have contributed to a decline in interest from both vendors and attendees. It is essential for us to recognize that without a strong foundation, it becomes increasingly difficult to build a vibrant community atmosphere.

LOOKING AHEAD:

We are committed to revitalizing our community & events (AUTUMFEST, Oct. 3rd. & HOLIDAY MARKET in November @ the newly renovated Slater Hall Community Center) and addressing these challenges for the betterment of our community. We encourage community feedback on how we can improve future initiatives to better serve everyone. We invite you to become a member of the community association by signing up for the monthly newsletter, attend the monthly Board meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, become a volunteer or register to become a Board member.

About the Market

The mission of the Slater-Marietta Community Market is to provide a monthly community event for all ages that will:

Provide a source of fresh produce and local goods to residents,
Highlight Slater-Marietta and encourage residents, families, and visitors to engage in our community,
Provide a community atmosphere where residents can stay active and healthy.

The Slater-Marietta Community Association(SMCA) is dedicated to creating a monthly or weekly Community Market event that benefits our residents, businesses, and visitors. The SMCA is working hard to regroup and redevelop the Community Market with the same mission, but with a new date, time, and location. We are seeking volunteers.
